Support Service Volunteer Unit Application

Please note that you must satisfy the following requirements before becoming a Support Service Volunteer:

Adult (age 18 years and over) candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old and in good physical conditon. 

  • You must have direct access to a motor vehicle at all times, when on duty. 

  • You must have a valid California Driver's License and valid California approved vehicle insurance. 

  • You must successfully complete a DOJ background check.

  • You must have a cell phone.

  • You must live in the Southern California Area.

  • You must have an active e-mail account. All alerts are sent to e-mail accounts.

  • You must committ to one year of service after completing probation.

  • After completing training you will be on probation for 6 months.

  • You will be asked to  be on call a minimum of one day a month.

Junior (ages 14-17 years) candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be between 14 and 17 years of age and in good physical condition.

  • You must have transportation provided for you to your assigned location. 

  • You must successfully complete a DOJ background check. 

  • You must have a cell phone.

  • You must live in the Southern California Area.

  • You must have an active e-mail account. All alerts are sent to e-mail accounts. 

  • You must committ to one year of service after completing probation. 

  • After completing training you will be on probation for 6 months.

  • You will be asked to be on call a minimum of one day a month.

The Support Sevice Volunteer Program has a limited number of openings for it's staff. A review board will meet to review each applicate when openings are available. Your application will be on file for up to one year before we ask you to reapply.
